WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Underwear maker Hanesbrands Inc. said Thursday Ronald L. Nelson, chairman and chief executive of car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc., has been elected to its board of directors, effective July 21.
Nelson, 55, will serve for a term that will end at the 2009 annual shareholders meeting, the company said.
With his election, Hanesbrands said its board will have 10 members.
