AGOURA HILLS, Calif.—Video game publisher THQ Inc. and Marvel Entertainment Inc. said Thursday they signed an exclusive licensing deal to make "Marvel Super Hero Squad"-based video games.

Terms were not disclosed.

The first "Marvel Super Hero Squad" game is set to debut next fall. The squad includes well-known characters such as Spider-Man, Hulk and The Fantastic Four, with games geared toward 4- to 10-year-olds.

The multiyear agreement gives THQ exclusive worldwide rights to publish content for current and next-generation consoles, handheld systems and Windows PCs. The company said the deal strengthens its position in the kids video game market.

Marvel, which licenses comic book characters for films and consumer products, is aggressively moving to expand the brand across toys, television and other channels. The company is currently producing an animated series based on the brand that is targeted to launch next year.
