Opening Glance: Gold shares open lower

NEW YORK—Shares of gold-mining companies fell Tuesday as the price of the precious metal declined in European trading.

Gold traded in London at $877 per troy ounce, down from $885.50 late Monday.

How some gold miners are trading:

Goldcorp Inc. fell $1.13, or 2.9 percent, to $38.28.

Gold Fields Ltd. fell 15 cents to $13.73.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell 63 cents to $44.63.

Barrick Gold Corp. fell 72 cents to $38.07.
