Utility owner PPL spent $390,000 lobbying in 1Q
WASHINGTON—Utility company PPL Corp. spent $390,000 in the first quarter lobbying on energy and environmental issues, according to a recent disclosure form.
The Allentown, Pa.-based company lobbied on bills that would change regulations for the construction of power lines, renewable energy requirements, climate change, and railroad competition, according to an April 21 filing with the House clerk's office.
PPL spent $1.3 million lobbying last year.
The power industry would likely face heightened costs should Congress pass legislation designed to curb emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas linked to climate change. However, builders of carbon-free nuclear power plants could stand to benefit.![]()
