Constellation asks FERC to dismiss rate complaint
BALTIMORE --Constellation Energy is intervening in a federal complaint filed by energy regulators in Maryland and other Mid-Atlantic states.
State regulators filed the complaint against PJM Interconnection, a regional transmission organization that supplies power in 13 states and the District of Columbia. The states claim that rules designed to increase generation capacity have led to unjust and unreasonable rates.
Constellation, the parent of Baltimore Gas & Electric and a major power producer and marketer, filed a response Friday with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission saying the states have failed to show why the rates were unreasonable.
Constellation asked FERC to dismiss the complaint, saying federal regulators also do not have the authority to order refunds sought by the states. And, the company added, the states have not shown power providers used their market power to influence rates, as alleged.
