NEW YORK—Furniture design company Herman Miller Inc. said Tuesday it would link up with Hong Kong-based Posh Office Systems Ltd.

The companies said the agreement would give both companies access "to each others' product portfolio and distribution network."

"We have found the best partner to accelerate our progress in greater China and Asia," said the president of Herman Miller's international business, John Portlock.

Posh makes office furniture that is sold across the Asia Pacific region. Its design office is in Hong Kong and it has factories in China.

Herman Miller makes furniture for the office and home, and has won design awards such as the National Design Award for product design from the Smithsonian Institute's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.

Shares of the company added 16 cents to $28.25 in morning trading.
