Ex-Credit Suisse broker pleads not guilty to fraud
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A former Credit Suisse <CSGN.VX> broker pleaded not guilty on Friday to criminal charges of fraud in connection with allegedly unauthorized dealings of auction-rate debt.
Julian Tzolov, 35, a native of Bulgaria, was arrested by the FBI on his return from Europe on Thursday. He was released on $3 million bail on Friday after he entered his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ramon Reyes in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn.
Tzolov was accused in an indictment unsealed on Wednesday along with a former colleague, Eric Butler, of defrauding investors through deceptive sales of auction-rate securities, which are the focus of an industrywide investigation by regulators. Butler has also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
