Berklee purchases parcel on Mass. Ave. for $6.25m
Berklee College of Music has bought a 13,300-square-foot parcel on Massachusetts Avenue, where it is planning to build new facilities.
The property, now occupied by a McDonald's and a Korean restaurant, is located between Belvidere and St. Germain streets, near Christian Science Plaza. The college purchased the property for $6.25 million from First Church of Christ, Scientist. Berklee officials said they have not decided what to build there.
The First Church of Christ also is planning the redevelopment of the rest of its property, a process that could bring significant change to the area. The church owns several buildings around its signature plaza and reflecting pool in the Back Bay.
Boston officials have appointed a committee of church officials and community members to devise a plan for redeveloping the property. ![]()
