Two more directors leave Bank of America board
NEW YORK - Bank of America Corp., the lender that took $45 billion in US aid, said retired Admiral Joseph Prueher and retired General Tommy R. Franks resigned as directors Wednesday.
The “decision to resign was not as a result of any disagreement with the corporation or its management,’’ the company said yesterday in a regulatory filing.
Bank directors Jackie M. Ward and Patricia E. Mitchell stepped down this month. O. Temple Sloan, lead director and defender of chief executive Kenneth Lewis, and Robert Tillman, retired chief executive at Lowe’s Cos., resigned last month. Meredith Spangler resigned in April after reaching 72, the bank’s age limit.
Also yesterday, the House Oversight Committee said it served the Federal Reserve with a second subpoena for papers relating to Bank of America’s acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co.
Representative Edolphus Towns is seeking documents on discussions among the Fed, the Treasury Department, and Bank of America dating from September 2008 to January. ![]()
