NEW YORK — Bonnie Hoxie, the former Walt Disney Co. employee who passed confidential earnings information to her boyfriend, was sentenced to four months’ home confinement after telling a judge she was “blindsided by love.’’

Hoxie, 34, the former assistant to Disney corporate communications chief Zenia Mucha, pleaded guilty in September to giving quarterly earnings information to Yonni Sebbag, who tried to sell it to investors.

“I was blindsided by love and not making the correct choices,’’ Hoxie told US District Judge Alvin Hellerstein.

Hoxie’s lawyer, Robert Baum, told the judge Sebbag was losing money on two restaurants he owned. Hoxie did not know he intended to sell the information and did not expect anything from the deal except a designer handbag and a pair of designer shoes, he said.

Hellerstein ordered Hoxie confined to her Los Angeles apartment when she’s not working at one of her two waitress jobs, attending religious services, or at a medical appointment. He also sentenced her to three years’ probation with 100 hours of community service each year.

Sebbag, 30, pleaded guilty and was sentenced last month to 27 months in prison. Prosecutors claimed he sent letters to at least 33 investment companies, including hedge funds, offering to sell the information he received from Hoxie.
