Michele McPhee joins Channel 5
Michele McPhee, the Boston newspaper journalist and radio personality, has been hired as a general assignment reporter at WCVB-TV (Channel 5.) Her beat will center on crime and law enforcement. She begins work Sept. 6.
McPhee “is an aggressive and well-connected journalist with some of the best sources in Boston and the proven ability to break stories,’’ said WCVB news director Andrew Vrees in a release. “Her track record speaks for itself.’’
McPhee is best known for her columns at The Boston Herald and for her nonfiction crime-themed books, such as “Mob Over Miami.’’
Recently, she has been a contributor to WFXT-TV (Channel 25)’s 10 p.m. newscast, where she chimed in with her opinion on the news of the day.
For three years, she helmed her own talk show weeknights on WTKK-FM 96.9, until her contract was not renewed late last year.
McPhee said she is looking forward to her TV gig. “As a native Bostonian, I grew up watching WCVB,’’ McPhee said in a release.![]()
