WHDH-TV (Channel 7) has named its new main coanchor: Reid Lamberty, who is joining the Boston NBC affiliate on Monday to coanchor the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts with Kim Khazei.
Lamberty succeeds longtime WHDH anchor Frances Rivera, who left the station last month to be a morning anchor at the CW network affiliate in New York. Rivera, who worked at WHDH for 10 years, said that changes in her personal life, including the deaths of her father and father-in-law, were factors in her decision to leave Boston. Rivera wanted her baby daughter, Tessa, to be closer to her family in New Jersey, she said.
Rivera and Khazei were the only all-female lead news anchor team in Boston.
Lamberty worked most recently as an anchor and reporter at WHDH’s sister station, WSVN-TV (Channel 7) in Miami. Both stations, along with WLVI-TV (Channel 56) in Boston, are owned by Miami-based Sunbeam Television Corp.![]()
