BALTIMORE—Comptroller Peter Franchot is continuing his push to require Maryland public school students to take a standalone course in financial literacy.
Franchot will be in Baltimore on Wednesday to talk about the idea.
The comptroller will be joining Operation Hope and PNC bank to announce a partnership that will allow 2,500 Baltimore-area elementary and middle school students to be educated on how to save, spend, budget and invest their money a program called "Banking on Our Future." It's a financial literacy program with lessons on banking, checking and savings accounts.
For the last two years, a bill has passed the Maryland Senate to create a standalone financial literacy course. The measure has stalled in the House of Delegates.
