WILMINGTON, Del.—Wilmington officials have granted a permit to Occupy Delaware protesters for a seven-day stay at a downtown plaza.

The permit approved Monday allows the group to stage events at Spencer Plaza, next to the federal courthouse. The city is charging Occupy Delaware a fee of $200, payable by Monday afternoon.

Occupy Delaware participants can remain in Spencer Plaza overnight but cannot erect tents or other structures. The city refused a permit for another plaza across the street.

The protesters on Sunday rejected the state's offer to stay at Brandywine Park, saying there too many restrictions and that the site was not visible enough. That decision came after protesters defied authorities by camping overnight at Fletcher Brown Park. Authorities kept an eye on the protesters but chose not to arrest them.
