OMAHA, Neb.—One of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s furniture businesses is planning to build a major new store in the Dallas, Texas, area.

The Nebraska Furniture Mart's Bob Batt said this week that the Omaha company plans to build a complex with nearly 2 million square feet in a new development along a major highway in The Colony, Texas.

The store will sell furniture, electronics, appliances and other household goods when it opens. Batt says the new store should open in 2015, and complement the Furniture Mart's existing stores in Omaha, Kansas City, Kan., and Des Moines, Iowa.

The Nebraska Furniture Mart has been part of Warren Buffett's Berkshire conglomerate since 1983. Berkshire also owns several insurance companies and an assortment of more than 80 other businesses.
