Best Buy alters Black Friday opening

Best Buy is the latest national retailer to change its mind about 12 a.m. openings in Massachusetts on the day after Thanksgiving because of the state’s blue laws. The electronics chain confirmed plans to move its Black Friday sales start to 1 a.m. “to accommodate the state’s blue laws, which prohibit employees from working before midnight on Thanksgiving Day,’’ the company said in a statement. In recent days, Macy’s, Target, and Walmart have all backed off from previously announced midnight promotions at their locations here. Macy’s now has scheduled a 12:30 a.m. opening on Black Friday, Target is planning a 1 a.m. start, and Walmart will keeps its doors shut until 4 a.m.
