Kohl’s to open after midnight

The Kohl’s department-store chain said that its stores in the Boston area will now open at 1 a.m. on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Retailers have been scrambling to adjust their plans because of the Massachusetts blue laws, which prohibit employees from working before midnight on Thanksgiving Day. Some national chains had originally planned to open at midnight but have opted to change their plans for their stores located in Massachusetts.
