Mutual fund stars fading
The mutual fund star - that stock-picker who became well-known and occasionally famous - is practically extinct. There used to be lots of them and Boston was once a global hot-spot for star managers. Peter Lynch literally wrote the book on star managers during his heyday at Fidelity Investments. But a decade-long market funk and changes in the way people invest have conspired against mutual fund star.
