DEARBORN, Mich.—Ford Motor Co. said Thursday that its November sales in the U.S. rose 13.3 percent as the number of trucks and SUVs it sold rose by more than the drop in the number of cars it sold.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker said it sold 166,865 vehicles last month, up from 147,338 a year earlier.

TOP SELLER: Sales Ford's F-Series pickup trucks jumped 23.9 percent to 47,740 from 38,541.

HOT MODELS: Sales of SUVs grew a combined 29.3 percent to 52,881, while truck sales rose 22.8 percent to 65,732.

Sales of the Explorer tripled to 12,888, while sales of the Ford Escape jumped 46.1 percent to 21,823.
