Agilent Technologies declares first dividend

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Scientific instrument maker Agilent Technologies Inc. said Wednesday that it will begin paying quarterly cash dividends, starting with a 10-cent payment in April.

The Santa Clara, Calif., company said the move reflects its financial strength and growth potential.

The first dividend is payable April 25 to shareholders of record on April 3.

In its latest fiscal year, which ended in October, Agilent's revenue grew 21.5 percent to $6.62 billion, while net income increased 48 percent to $1.01 billion.

Shares rose 53 cents, or 1.3 percent, to $40.52 in midday trading Wednesday.
