Nano-solar energy
Source: Technology Review
Nanotechnology may pave the way for more practical solar power. Konarka of Lowell, MA, has introduced solar cell technology, which is based on nanoparticles embedded in a film. While not as efficient as silicon cells, they are inexpensive to make. The lower price tag, combined with the cells' flexibility, could make solar power possible in more places, like the windows of buildings, fabrics, handbags, and portable cells for your cell phone and laptop.
