Google Trends on American Idol
Source: Tech Crunch

Google Trends launched yesterday. It's an analysis tool that charts how often specific search terms are being entered into the Google search engine. To to give it a road test, I entered in the names of all 4 American Idol finalists to see if I could understand why Chris Daughtry got axed last night. Here's how the Google Trend rankings stack up:
- First place Katherine McPhee
- 2nd place Taylor Hicks
- 3rd place Chris Daughtry
- 4th place Elliot Yamin
Last night's voting results had Katherine McPhee and Chris Daughtry in the bottom two.
Steve Rubel says Google Trends is a "must-bookmark for every PR person and marketer worldwide" as a way to track how your brand is being perceived against your competitors.
True enough. But my burning question is...will Google Trends predict the winner of American Idol?
