Boston #2, but cheaper
Source: A VC
There's been a blog debate about the top U.S. cities for tech startups. Everyone agrees that San Francisco (by a wide mile) and Boston are the two biggest hubs for tech activity. New York and Seattle are in there, but not at the top. I just spent a week in San Francisco and I agree with Paul Graham, who says that while San Francisco and Berkeley are great, "Silicon Valley proper is soul-crushing suburban sprawl." So take your pick. Sprawl with great weather vs. character with bad weather. But you'll pay through the nose for the good weather. It's easily twice as expensive to buy a home in Silicon Valley as it is in Boston, no matter what you've heard about our soaring home prices.
So join the discussion...is Boston really the best if you work in technology?
