Irresponsible NYC startups?
Source: A VC
Fred Wilson responds to Dan Cornish's observation that "Starting a software company in NYC is borderline irresponsible" due to the insane cost of living and competing with Wall Street for talent. Wilson says it's not impossible; you just can't base everyone in Manhattan. "Not one single Union Square Ventures company that is headquartered in NYC currently has all of its engineering team in NYC." His point? "Entrepreneurs should start businesses where they want to work and then organize the company according to what works best for them." And increasingly it's not in one location anymore.
