Your company could use a holiday vacation

The holiday season is the most important time for a company to encourage a good work-life balance.

Employees will have to take a lot of their own personal time for gifts for their loved ones. They’ll also have to manage time to decorate, plan events, make cards, and my personal favorite … pick out not-so-attractive sweaters.

It’s a challenging time to keep employees motivated. Even keeping the office working effectively is tough during one of the least productive times of the year.

Fortunately, there is a fun solution that provides a nice boost of energy for the office: A company-wide holiday trip!

That’s right, a holiday trip can boost employee productivity and employee engagement, as it allows employees to get away from the stresses that come from the holiday season and allows team members to bond and collaborate with their peers in a fun way.

How “Gamified” Team Building Activities Led A Company To Go On Vacation
Recently, software company GSoft decided to gamify a their holiday trip process. Using Officevibe they were able to have dynamic team building activities throughout the year and see who was the most involved within their office. The people who accumulated the most completed activities within the team building platform, received a paid company trip to Miami, while the rest of the company still received the offer to attend the trip at a discounted price.

Being that the trip was announced during their company meeting during the Summer, they had plenty of time to work out the logistics of planning the trip to Miami and come up with a whole list of cool tourist stops.

The process of gamifying the holiday trip experience drove employee engagement through the roof! It led to a better workflow, as the employees began to collaborate more often within the office for projects that were both relevant to work and others that were more for team-building.

This new gamified process had all the employees even more excited to go on a trip. Over 92% of employees were actively engaged with the platform. It led them to partake in different tasks that would get them recognized by their colleagues and the management.

So after months of fun team-building activities they made their way toward Miami, where they used this time to just get away from it all, relax, and kick their feet in the sand. The team also had specific team building events planned out for them throughout their weekend stay including a big company dinner, deep sea fishing, beach days, sand volleyball, and, of course, bar hopping.

When they arrived back to the office, they felt even more motivated to succeed and achieve. The founder sent a large e-mail to everyone congratulating them on creating such a wonderful atmosphere and having a good time in Miami. It’s safe to say that the holiday vacation helped the company’s culture and engaged employees like never before.

The holidays do provide a lot of good times, but it can also provide a lot of stresses. Taking a break and getting your colleagues out of their environment can help clear their mind. It may not have to be a crazy trip to Miami, but just getting out of the office as a team to get to know one another and collaborate could be all the help that your company needs to get through the winter motivated and happy. So if you get the chance, grab some of your colleagues and take a trip!
