World of Warcraft, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, is named after the world of the game-maker's popular strategy game franchise, Warcraft. Released in 2004, World of Warcraft is one of the most popular massively multiplayer online games on the planet, with more than 8 million players worldwide. Blizzard has since released an expansion pack, titled The Burning Crusades, in January to add more content.
