At a December 2003 game between the New York Islanders and the Philadelphia Flyers, about 1,000 fans dressed in Santa Claus costumes in return for free admission. Chaos insued when they were all invited down to the ice after first period and some Santas removed their suits and revealed themselves to be fans of the Islanders' cross-town rivals, the Rangers.
