Notable executive resignations amid turmoil
Former CEO of British Petroleum
Hayward's fate may have been sealed after the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but he didn't help his case to remain head of the British-based company by saying things such as "I want my life back" and participating in a yacht race at the height of the crisis. After the outcry grew from his public gaffes, he resigned his post "for the good of the company."
Hayward, however, still gets $150,000 a year as a nonexecutive at BP's Russian joint venture TNK-BP.
