
Just a block north of Copley Square, Newbury Street, the tree-lined drive packed with pampered pretty people seeking chic shopping, has managed to move its way up into the ranks of such places as Los Angeles' famous Rodeo Drive.
But before it gained nationwide fame, Newbury Street, seen here in 1972, was where Bostonians went to buy a special something, or at least dream of when they could afford to.
