Artists find new ways to release music
Prince
In the early 2000's, Price ran an online music fan site, NPG Music Club, where he released exclusive recordings to members. Membership initially cost $7.75 a month for basic access and $100 for a premium annual membership, and was later reduced to $2.50 a month and $25 a year.
Prince closed the site in 2006, saying it had "gone as far as it can go."
