Remote controls for electric fireplaces, stoves recalled due to fire hazard

Dimplex North America recalled about 700,000 remote control kits for electric fireplaces and electric stoves because the plug-in wall unit can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.
The kits were sold at home improvement and furniture retailers for between $200 and $1,500. The company received reports of about 5,000 reports of units overheating including one report of a house fire in Columbus, Ohio.
