Site: North End electrical substation
Who: Nate Swain
This summer, North End resident Nate Swain spent $15,000 to transform a Salem Street electrical substation. He collaborated with Boston Building Wraps on the project, which he plans to call "Ode to the Public Realm."
Swain, 35, passes the building every day, and first noticed it six years ago. Last year, he contacted NStar's Walter Salvi with an idea to make the bricked-up windows look like real ones. "Right from the get-go he was all for it," Swain said.
