Madoff's bail was revoked and he was sent to jail after pleading guilty to what is estimated to be a $65 billion Ponzi scheme that snared individual investors as well as charitable foundations.

In court on March 12, Madoff read from a six-page statement in which he revealed the scope of his deception - a scheme that cost duped investors billions of dollars. He said he knew what he was doing was wrong, and criminal.
