Steady performer State Street -- one of only four companies to appear in all 19 Globe 100 lists -- had another strong year as a robust stock market helped propel many financial services firms. The company it plans to acquire in 2007, Investors Financial Services, reported strikingly similar gains. First Marblehead shook off ethics woes that led to the resignation of its former chief executive in 2005, posting big revenue gains servicing student loans for lenders.
