TechnologyAfter soaring and crashing earlier in the decade, the technology sector enjoyed a year of steady growth. Nationally, the Bloomberg US Technology index rose 10 percent; the Bloomberg Boston Globe Massachusetts Technology index did even better, rising 13 percent -- its best performance since 2003. Revenue was up at many firms as exports grew and hiring increased. Even CMGI, the boom-and-bust poster child, surged up the Globe 100 list, posting a profit in three of its last four quarters as it retreated from its former vision of ruling the Internet world to the more mundane -- but profitable -- field of supply-chain management.
