Stairmaster to heaven

Of course you'd expect an athletic-gear maker like Reebok to have a great gym at work. But the 20 Boston employees of American Well, a software provider for the healthcare industry, have even more incentive to get healthy.

In its 26th-floor offices at the opulent 75 State Street, American Well has its own personal workout room, with a breathtaking view past the office towers of the Financial District down the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.

CrossRamp elliptical trainers, treadmills, stationary bicycles, and Gravitron weights are among the high-end gear.

"It is awesome. I'm here every morning," says office manager Christine Aderola.

More perks, all inherited when American Well took over the space from venture firm Parthenon Capital: Cherry-trimmed lockers, marble bathrooms and showers (and a sauna for the men), and a fully decked-out adjacent kitchen for whipping up a post-workout meal. Low-cal, of course.
