Manufacturers had a decent year in a slowing economy. The falling dollar made US goods more attractive to overseas buyers, partially offsetting the weakening economy at home. Sales at Beacon Roofing Supply cooled along with the housing market. LoJack, which makes products to help locate stolen vehicles, also was affected by the slowdown in car sales. But steady performer UniFirst, a provider of uniforms, continued to grow. Ranked by revenue in 2007.
