Friendly Ice Cream

The first Friendly's ice cream shop opened in Springfield in 1935. The store sold double-dip cones for 5 cents, according to the company's website.

Friendly's has since expanded to 505 restaurants. Here, packages of chocolate chip ice cream makes their way down a conveyor belt at the company's manufacturing plant in Wilbraham.
