The Bloomberg Massachusetts Technology index finished the year up 5.2 percent, as businesses continued spending for technology most of the year. Storage companies such as EMC and Iron Mountain posted strong revenue increases. Still, tech companies nationwide posted better results; the Bloomberg US Technology index was up 21 percent. The semiconductor equipment industry began slowing in the fourth quarter, and companies like Teradyne, which makes testing systems, are vulnerable in downturns. Ranked by revenue in 2007.
