2009 Globe 100

Top Massachusetts biotech companies

Although startup and small biotech firms are at risk from the recession and the national reduction in venture investment, the state's most significant biotech companies are continuing to demonstrate growth -- as evidenced by Cubist Pharmaceutical's ranking at the top of this year's Globe 100. Prospects for the coming year are helped by President Obama's economic stimulus package, which provides for investing billions of federal dollars in research, and Massachusetts' $1 billion initiative aimed at creating jobs within the industry. Companies ranked by 2008 revenue.
