Ladybugs instead of pesticides
Genzyme Crop. releases beetles every few weeks, in place of pesticides, to keep 18 indoor gardens healthy at the drug maker's Cambridge headquarters. The ladybugs eat plant pests such as aphids.
"It works; it's all natural," facilities manager Steve Moran explained. The structure he oversees holds the US Green Building Council's highest rating.
