True Green - Creative conservation
The power of recycling
In years past, insurer Liberty Mutual consumed numerous resources – paper and electricity – but for several years, it has made a concerted effort to cut back through a number of green programs.
In 2009, the company recycled 8.8 million pounds of paper (saving 75,000 trees), increased the use of recycled paper (saving 2,300 trees), redirected nearly 830 tons of construction waste from its Boston office renovation to recycling plants or manufacturers, and instituted other conservation initiatives.
