Brigham and Women's Hospital was formed in 1980 by the merger of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Robert Breck Brigham Hospital and the Boston Hospital for Women.

BWH has New England's largest birth center -- nearly 10,000 babies are born there each year.

BWH is the second-largest recipient of biomedical research funding from the National Institutes of Health.
