NEW YORK—Shares of large pharmaceutical companies opened higher Wednesday along with the broader market ahead of a Federal Reserve decision on interest rates.
The American Stock Exchange's Pharmaceutical Index rose .85 points to 303.82. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 48.24 points to 12,878.25.
Here's how some key drug makers fared shortly after market open Wednesday:
Schering-Plough up 1 cent to $18.70.
Wyeth up 10 cents to $44.61.
Merck & Co. shares up 26 cents to $37.39.
Bristol -Myers Squibb Co., up 8 cents to $22.![]()
