Closing Glance: Health care stocks decline behind Tenet

NEW YORK—Shares of health care providers and service companies traded lower Tuesday, with hospital operator Tenet Healthcare Corp. falling after it swung to a first-quarter loss.

Tenet lost $31 million in the quarter, although excluding one-time items, it posted a larger adjusted profit than analysts expected.

Here are the day's results for a few key stocks in the sector:

Tenet lost 46 cents, or 7.1 percent, to $6.01.

Coventry Healthcare Inc. lost 30 cents to $44.94.

Humana Inc. slid 66 cents to $47.14.

Bucking the trend following its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report, McKesson Corp. gained $4.16, or 7.7 percent, to $58.25.
