Closing glance: Health care equipment and supply stocks rise

NEW YORK—Health care equipment and supply stocks ended higher Thursday, in line with the broader market, as investors reacted favorably to retreating oil prices and better-than-expected retail sales reports.

How shares of some major health care equipment and supply companies ended regular trading:

Varian Medical Systems Inc. gained 48 cents to $46.55.

Stryker Corp. jumped $2.51, or 4 percent, to $64.61.

Baxter International Inc. rose 23 cents to $61.70.

Boston Scientific Inc. added 26 cents, or 2 percent, to $13.68.
