J&J unit Ethicon Endo-Surgery to buy SurgRx

CINCINNATI—Medical device maker Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, said Monday it agreed to buy SurgRx, a privately held developer of advanced bipolar tissue sealing systems.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ethicon said the acquisition will complement its Harmonic line of ultrasonic medical devices used in open and laparoscopic, or minimally invasive surgeries.

Shares of Johnson & Johnson rose 11 cents to close at $71.66.
