Pa. health system plans sale to for-profit company

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—A northeastern Pennsylvania nonprofit health care network plans to sell to a for-profit company.

The Wyoming Valley Health Care System has 3,200 employees. Its properties include Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

The system announced Tuesday that it has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to sell to Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems Inc.

There was no immediate word on the sale price.
