NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. fell Friday after an analyst suggested Amylin's diabetes drug Byetta is more likely to cause pancreatitis than a rival treatment, Merck & Co.'s Januvia.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Shares of Assurant Inc. ticked higher Friday, after the New York-based insurer announced plans to acquire General Electric Co's warranty management group, which sells warranties for major appliances and consumer electronics.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Quiksilver Inc. soared on Friday, after the retailer on Thursday said it swung to a fiscal third-quarter profit, helped by strong sales abroad.
