Boston Scientific buys Irish stent firm
NATICK - Medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. said yesterday it bought Ireland-based Labcoat Limited for an undisclosed amount, obtaining additional drug-coated stent technology.
Stents are tiny mesh-metal tubes used to prop open clogged arteries once they have been cleared of plaque.
The drug coatings are designed to prevent reclogging.
Shares of Boston Scientific rose 43 cents, or 6.6 percent, to $7.99 on the New York Stock Exchange.
